GCC celebrated a fitting send off Mass for Rev. Fr. Augustine Owusu-Sekyere on Sunday April 15, 2012. The main celebrant for the Mass was Rev. Fr. Augustine assisted by Rev. Fr. Tony, Rev. Fr. Clement and Rev. Fr. Quarshie. Also in attendance at the Mass was Corinne Monogue, Director, Office of Multicultural Ministries of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.
The occasion was chaired by Dr. & Mrs. Charles Osei Dankwah and supported by Mr. & Mrs. Charles Ofori, CEO Ofori & Associates, LLC, Dr. & Mrs. Kofi Agyapong, Dr. & Mrs. James Amofa, Mr. & Mrs. Yaw Oteng Agyapong and Rev. Dr. & Mrs. Kwakye Nuako as co-chairpersons. Special guests at the ceremony included Mr. & Mrs. Henry Adu, Mr. & Mrs. Paul Gyau, Mr. & Mrs. George Afoakwa, Mr. & Mrs. Agyeman Duah, Nana & Mrs. Osei Tutu, Mr. & Mrs. Amoo Gotfried, Mr. & Mrs. McCarthy, Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Osei, Mr. & Mrs. Kofi Gray Yeboah, Mr. & Mrs. Lula Ferruchi, Ms. Bertha Habib, Mr. & Mrs. Tony Kusi, Nana Kwaku Yeboah Kankam, Nana Osei Aduboahene, Mr. Francis & Adelaide Adu-Gyamfi, Mrs. Esther Kodua Dates, Mr. Kwaku Asomanin Anim, Mr. Steve Kwarteng and Mr.Francis Kyei.
On Sunday February 12, 2012 the GCC formally welcomed and installed Rev. Fr. Anthony Appiah as the Spiritual Director and Priest in Charge of the Ghana Catholic Community of Washington.
